Sometimes the camping sites listed in the book were not always the best but it was still helpful. The best place for resupply would be Cross Fork. If you start at the Northern Gateway, Cross Fork is roughly half way and has a small store and places to eat. There may be some minor provisions available at Ole Bull SP but you would have to confirm that with the park.TOMCAThttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06654755402217370740noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4946675798784275561.post-84793348918698546132020-11-15T07:45:01.718-08:002020-11-15T07:45:01.718-08:00Thanks Tomcat for sharing your adventure! I don't hike as fast as you and was planning on 5-6 days. Did you find the guide book accurate? Are there places to resupply along the route? On occasion I will eat early to combine a rest or utilize a good water source then hike a few more miles. I will also do this if I’m not sure about upcoming water availability. This allows me to utilize a dry campsite. I typically don’t have set destinations each day and hike until I’m ready to call it quits for the day. <br />I cook with an MSR Pocket Rocket stove. But I'm interested in the total weight of your pack (and your approx. weight) and how you "cooked" your evening meal. I can't imagine cooking an evening meal then continuing with the trail hike for several more miles before retiring for the evening and setting up tent camp. Wouldn't combining the evening meal with tent/camp setup be more efficient use of time and enable better rest? Bob Ross, Wellsboro.Robert M.
